The Fey - Primer

These mythical beings and spirits are birthed of pure Elan. They reside in secluded places where the Elan is strong. There are many types of fey, some help humans and others seek to cause mischief and sometimes great harm. The humans of Orrus have come to respect, fear, and even venerate these beings. It is not uncommon for tales of these mythical beings to be found in all areas of Orrus in some form or another.   An area inhabited by Fey tends to reflect the nature of the Fey in the area. Thus, if vengeful and cruel Fey inhabit an area, one skilled at recognizing the sings would notice the area has a foreboding or ominous look and feel to it. Conversely, if an area is inhabited by helpful and kind Fey, the area would look and feel pleasant and welcoming. Sometimes it is believed that the Fey can emanated and form from the restless dead. This is not associated with unnatural undead beings created by Voidshapers however.

Geographical Fey

As with anything dealing with the Elan, there is no set standard for how Fey manifest or exist. Each cultural area on Serrus has their own types and names for the Fey. It seems, according to common scholarly knowledge that the Elan tends to shape the Fey out of the perspectives and cultures of those living in a given area. Some scholars say that a part of the Elan within the human is exuded into the area in which they live that then transfers itself into the coalescing physical form from the Elan of the land forming Fey.   This could explain the regional differences that the Fey seem to exhibit. Most Fey are extremely similar despite location and the only difference is the cultural distinction and legends associated with them. Also, keep in mind that the Fey can come in any shapes and sizes, some never seen anywhere in a certain form more than once. It is the whim of the Elan that shapes them.
