Hyvarian

Gold Dragons are unique among their kind in that they so often relish the Human form that their shape shifting powers allow them a trait that is more often than not traced back to the ancient dragon Adalon, who first took human form to teach men the secrets of magic. This ancestral penchant for spending such time among humankind leaves it no surprise, then that Gold Dragons, more than any other species of dragon, have intermingled their magical bloodlines with those of men.   Where their dragonborn relatives more often inherit the power and strength of their respective kin, Hyvarian children Instead inherit the magical prowess of their Draconic Lineage. Often demonstrating magical aptitude at a very young age. Hyvarian have an uncommon affinity for the magic of illusions, and harbor some of the natural magical resistance of their ancestors, but by far their most prevalent magical inheritance is the ability to float softly to the ground from any height.   Hyvarian bloodlines run much further back than those of their dragonbom relatives, and unlike their close relatives the dragobom, Hyvarian do not exhibit the same bestial traits as their Draconic ancestors. Rather than scales and horns, Hyvarian traits are more subtle. Their builds are often relatively slender, but muscular, and their hair is tinged with streaks or points of brilliant gold. Their most distinguishing feature, however, are their Gold eyes, which shimmer like pools of liquid metal In the light of day. These traits do not develop until adolescence. and it is not uncommon for the bloodline to not produce a Hyvarian for many generations, meaning that many human parents are surprised when their children begin to show signs of draconic birth.     Some families accept these Children eagerly, Excited for the gifts they have been blessed with. But in smaller communities such abnormalities can sometimes be mistaken for a curse or mutation.     While they mature at a similar rate to normal Humans, Hyvarian can often live to be as old as 500 years. This grants them plenty of time to consider their own place the world.
