Korlo

The Father Above All

Korlo; Last of the Eternal ones. His kind first came into existence during some cosmic event before recorded history. They were from the time of their birth until their ultimate defeat, at war with a race of beings known only as The Oldest Ones. The Oldest Ones at that time controlled all the planes and The Astral Sea, and eventually the overcame the eternal ones after a millennia long struggle in the void.   Korlo, the last of his kind escaped the void and emerged into the Astral Sea. Eventually coming upon the Dragon IO in a particularly empty section of the cosmos. Korlo asked of the Great Dragon "May I hide here with you for a time?" But the Dragon like all of his descendants was extremely greedy and guarded the star he had hoarded viciously. He refused Korlo's request and subsequently attacked him. Korlo engaged the dragon in combat for what would amount to 40 days if the Astral Sea weren't timeless. Finally Korlo struck a blow that pierced the dragon's holy flesh; Korlo ripped the spear back, opening the gut of the Great Titan and thus spilling out into the universe the planets the dragon had consumed in the ages passed from across all the Galaxies he had raided and plundered in search of stars. Korlo ate the meat of the divine being and subsequently became even more powerful than his Eternal brothers and sisters   This act formed the galaxy as we know it, and Korlo then began his work on the Celestial Ether; a plane of his own creation it bonded with the Astral sea, becoming what mortals refer to as "The Heavens"; Korlo then began work on the planet Orund deciding to make it his personal mission to ensure life thrived on this planet. First he created a plane that did not succeed, a test realm of sorts. A place where our laws of physics and understanding of nature simply dont apply, constantly shifting in its nature; this plane was so beyond normalcy that even Korlo could not erase it, and so he simply decided to build over top of it. The Abandoned plane would later be claimed by Corelion and become the FeyWild; a place forgotten by the gods.   The second plane Korlo constructed was The Primaterial plane; this is the plane most humans if not all call home. It is the Realm you know as your character has lived here their entire life. But it was almost destroyed when Korlo's first children went to war with each other.   Korlo always wanted to create life, and take care of life. He experimented with this by "fathering" 28 children in his image. The 28 were the Celestials, powerful beings, each with 1/28th the divine power of Korlo himself. Korlo gave up much of his own strength to create his children; for a time the children helped their father with his work of constructing our Realm. However one among them, Archonos discovered while searching the abyss for a way to forge life on planets other than Orund, he found a shard of pure evil; an artifact of great power that drifted into the Astral sea and fell into the abyss from the place beyond time, the nothing. In an effort to keep this power for himself, Archonos attempted to keep the shard away from his father by hiding it under the earth. Korlo knew he was being deceived but could not find the shard; This created a chasm between Korlo and his oldest son, over time, the chasm grew in a cycle of suspicion and distrust resulting in Archonos recruiting other celestials into his conspiracoy and eventually looking to stand against Korlo, saying that the source of the power the shard wielded was not important, only that it was absolute and could provide the celestials with the mean to reforge the galaxy and re write the very stars themselves. They eventually rose against Korlo and attacked him, Korlo cast them all down to earth where the remainder of his children engaged The Fallen. Korlo was unable to contain the battle and part of Orund was permanently scarred by this clash.   Eventually the two sides fought to a stalemate with casualties on both sides, Korlo could sense the horrible effect war was having on his children, and so he wanted to end the conflict as peacefully as possible, however when he gave Archonos the chance to turn the shard over and be forgiven, Archonos refused, thus he was cast from the ether and recovered the shard, creating a mighty staff with the gem that allowed him to create his own plane of existence, thus he began looking for somewhere ripe for regime change. This lead to the creation of The 9 Hells and marked the end of the Celestial Civil War.   The Betrayal of his sons and daughters left Korlo extremely hurt and disheartened, he began allowing what was left of his children to finish his work on building the realm, and eventually created one last wonder; Mankind. He placed the first tribe of men in the heart of Andrim; giving up the last shard of his divine power to do so. He walked amongst the first men and told them of their place in this new world; That it had been built for them and that their only responsibility was to live full lives and enjoy the place he had made for them.   Korlo was left an eternal, an immortal being. But he was unable to or chose not to return to the Ether after that day, for once man was created; Korlo simply walked the earth among them. Observing and meeting his second generation of children, uncorrupted by the power that had spoiled his first born. He made man's life short so that they might have a deeper appreciation for what was actually important in life; being true to yourself and the ones you love. For that was the greatest gift he could give; he gave human lives value.   Some Say Korlo still walks the earth, observing what his children are doing with his gift.
