Talian Aileos

Talian Aielos was born in Kal'Dore, and after studying wizardry in his youth from his master Baros Avira he became a War Caster for the Kal'Dorian Empire. He partook in a few of the naval conflicts of the Andrimian Conflict before returning home when the conflict reached a ceasefire, when the war with the Crimson Lord began in Kaldore he opted to leave, sailing across the ocean to Andrim. In Andrim he met a beautiful woman named Tristen, and they were shortly after married. It was not long after that Lucien D'valo came calling for him, D'valo had heard much of the talents of the war mage as well as his mind for tactics. D'valo was planning on taking the separated lands to take control of a vast energy source located there. The natives of this land were at war, and drunk with power of the magical font D'valo spoke of, if they were not stopped they would surely cause the destruction of the islands themselves. Talian answered the call, and joined the Magus Wars.
Talian lead a group of sorcerers and wizards and a few knights on many raids and expeditions into the separated lands, taking several key islands back from the natives to prepare for their final assault on the central Island. It was around this time Talian befriended several members of The Keshal-Vidari as they too had heeded the call of the magus wars. Talian earned their respect with this skills with a sword for a wizard and later would save their lives from a certain death at the hands of white dragon. After this they decided to break the laws of their order and teach the ways of the Keshal to Talian. Talian learned to be more effective than ever with a blade while using his other hand to cast devastating spells and using his magical talent to increase his own physical abilities. With the help of the other Keshal, Talian crafted Flameforge, his sunsword and began honing his new abilities through the remainder of the war. When the land of Shale was finally christened and the Font under control, Talian and Lucien began settling the area of Shale and encouraging more and more wizards to follow in their stead. Eventually the group of friends grew into a governing body, calling themselves The Circle of Magi. Talian never wanted to be a governor, by this time he was starting his family now that the wars were won. But this peace would not last for very long..
Around twelve years after the end of the magus conflict and the birth of Shale, The circle began to receive reports of missing people within the island of Shale. Specifically an inordinate number of City Watch and servants of The Circle, In secret, Regulus Blackstone; at this point a long time friend of Talian founded a new subsect of Shalee Law enforcement called Magical Crimes and Conspiracies, the team of Wizards were given the title of Aurors and set about the task of finding the missing people or the source of their demise. The aurors did find out who was responsible and Blackstone's fears had rang true. It was Lucian D'Valo himself, the leader of the circle. Talian was the first to know of the betrayal, and he rallied Regulus and his aurors up to the Aracanium Tower to confront Lucian but he had already learned of their plan and escaped, they would not see their friend again until two years later when he lead his first assaults on the Islands and revealed his new name; Magnus. Talian was at war again, this time with the people of the country he help lay the foundation of. The Wizard Wars, or the Magnus War as some call it is the most significant event in Shale's short history. It waged on for 8 years, without much cease fire or rest for either side in that time. Magnus's followers had raided the village of Tersa while Talian attempted to track down Magnus, they killed indiscriminately including both of Talian's daughters that were hiding in the village with their mother Tristen; Tristen was also attacked but survived  the spell. She would later blame Talian for not being with them to protect them, leading to their eventual separation at the conclusion of the war.
The end of the Magnus war finally came when the Circle decided to use the magical font as a weapon, a direct pointed attack on Lucien's fortress; Talian offered another solution, They had learned at this point that Lucien was a litch, and that though they had killed him in the past, he came back because his phylactery was not destroyed, a kind of soul storage device he could retreat to whenever his mortal shell was threatened. Using the Font as a lure, they would unleash its full power for the first time since taking it over. Magnus was likely to assume they were using this amount of magical energy for a pointed attack or ritual and so he would come running to it like a beacon. Talian was right, they set the trap and lucian descendants on Shale in an epic final assault, desperate to take over the font for himself and consume the magical energies inside.  The Circle eventually did battle with Magnus atop the Golden Arcanatory towers, while across the nation a group of aurors were descending into the depths of Magnus's lair to destroy his phylactery. Talain struck the final blow in the battle when Tavari Baz tossed him the fairy weapon Neverender and he came down on the Lich with both blades, killing his old friend and watching his ethereal soul leave his body, but this time it did not retreat, this time it turned and constricted in the air like a worm writing in pain until it dissipated with a blast of green light. They received no word of the Phylacteries destruction because the aurors detonated a ward and the fortress of Magnus came crumbling down on top of them.
By this point, Though he had won the war and saved his nation; Talian had lost everything else. He wondered the islands for a few years after the end of the battle, he gathered a few followers and apprentices and began the first steps towards founding his Eldritch Knights , it was while training these young spellswords Talian had the realization they should be doing this for all young people in Shale, training a new generation of mages to handle potential threats to the nation in the future. He gathered his old friends Regulus Blackstone, Tavari Baz and Greenscale Val'Nax and began laying the groundwork and ideals that would later become The Magus Academy of Arcane Arts. Aileos founded several curriculums in the school, most notably the Magical Combatives Program. Talian would live and teach at the school until his death around 70 years later, dying the day before his one hundred and 15th birthday peacefully with hundreds of his students and knights around him. By the time he reached the end of his life he had a family again, and he had carved a path for any aspiring wizard that would come after him.
