52. "A helping hand"

General Summary

• Ashtyn and Staev carefully removed the staff from the fort and dismantled its sphere of influence. 
• Pansy investigated the library and discovered many case files on incidents investigated by the companions. 
• Pansy discovered that the strange fungi in a class case was a sample and that many larger samples had been studied here at Fort Morninglord.
• The party elected to explore the rest of the castle and headed down to the basement, here they discovered a closed off room which revealed itself to be a laboratory long abandoned with a chasm in the floor.
• The chasm led down to a further subterranean level which had been over run with vibrant mushrooms and plants. 
• The party sent baxter down to investigate, but he was dispelled by some magical field, leading the party to jump down and explore the cave, Pansy stepped on a mushroom and alerted a mushroom creature to their presence, a fight ensued. 
• The fight attracted the attention of many other mushroom creatures, forcing the party into a retreat, but not before having inhaled some spores through their protective masks. 
• Pansy accidentally shot ashtyn in the leg, now unable to fly, ashtyn had to run to Bo and dimension door him out of the cave, but lost his hand in the process.
