Oryx Ogelvy

Oryx Ogelvy is the youngest head of the Marsember United Apothecaries Guild in living memory. A powerful half elf wizard from the Dalelands, she arrived in Marsember via a trade agreement scholarship when she was 8 years old. Her teenage years consisted of completing multiple research projects under the tuition of senior guild members. During her years as a student Oryx managed to juggle not only her many experiments but also an amateur theatre career and a keen interest in the application of the laws of Marsember. This unique combination of talents and interests led to her rapid rise as a dark horse in the complicated world of guild politics. She steadily forged alliances with both the ‘Players and Troubadours Guild’ and ‘Association of Clerks and Attorneys’. Her close relations with the entertainers and street performers assured her popularity with the commoners of Marsember, among whom she was seen as a benevolent benefactor of the sick and poor. Her legal alliances paid off when she was able to win an uncontested by-election, after she secretly forced the previous Guildmaster to resign due to a technicality. Since then she has surprised all political opponents by winning two full term elections and has shrewdly begun to dismantle many of the Guild’s more elitist policies. In her latest term Oryx has even begun numerous initiatives to share the economic and intellectual wealth of the guild, both with the lower-class citizens of Marsember and neighbouring settlements. However these recent radical policies have come at a price; Oryx now has more enemies than ever before, both in and outside of her Guild.
