Elven Guard

Overview

The Elven Guard is the official military force of Osnein, tasked with maintaining order and security across the nation. They oversee the safety of major cities, roadways, and trade routes, ensuring peace and stability in the region. While not every town has a significant presence of the Elven Guard, most have at least one or two guards stationed to keep watch. During grand events or times of heightened tension, the Elven Guard is called upon to help maintain peace and order.   The current General Commander of the Elven Guard is Finnea of House Kyso.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrolling: Regular patrols of cities, roads, and trade routes.
  • Arresting: Apprehending those who break the law.
  • Sentencing: Overseeing the judicial process, including sentencing criminals.
 

Uniform:

The Elven Guard's uniform is a symbol of their honor and dedication. The armor is beautifully crafted with intricate patterns, and it is essential for guards to keep their armor in pristine condition to maintain a proper image.  
  • Lower Ranking Guards: Simple version of the insignia with no rank markings.
  • Higher Ranking Officials: Emeralds encrusted into their crest and emerald green detailing on their plates.
  • Cape: A green cape with the Elven Guard symbol in glimmering silver at the center.
 

Elven Guard Ideals:

  Uphold justice: The guard are the main line of defence of keeping honor and peace in Osnein.   Mirror Justice: The guard are expected to display honor and be proper citizens themselves, regardless of if they are dawning their armor.   Bestow Justice: The guard are expected to impose proper sentencing for the crime commited.  

Joining the Guard:

  There are no racial qualifiers for joining the Elven Guard, although many members are Elven or human. The process to join includes:
  • Sign Up: Registering for the guard.
  • Training: Five years of rigorous training, including offensive and defensive combat, tension de-escalation, and lessons in justice.
  • Final Exam: Passing a comprehensive final exam.
  • Oath: Swearing an oath to uphold the ideals and duties of the Elven Guard.
 

Various Positions in the Elven Guard:

  Guards can have various jobs varying from scouts, trainers, judges, knights, jailers, city watch, etc. These positions collectively manage the entire judicial system in Osnein.    

Interactions With Other Militias:

In isolated communities, local militias often take it upon themselves to uphold justice. The Elven Guard rarely intervenes in these local matters unless the communities cease to stay isolated or their actions significantly impact broader society. The Elven Guard's presence and authority help maintain a sense of order and justice throughout Osnein, ensuring that the nation's values and laws are upheld by those sworn to protect it.

Elven Guard Ranks:

  Recruit Description: Individuals still in training, undergoing rigorous preparation to become full members of the Elven Guard. Responsibilities: Learning offensive and defensive combat, tension de-escalation, and justice lessons. Not yet involved in active duty.   Guardsman/Guardswoman Description: General guards with no seniority. The entry-level position for those who have completed their training. Responsibilities: Patrolling, enforcing laws, and maintaining order in their assigned areas.   Sergeant Description: The first level of recognition, marking a guard's progression and increased responsibility. Responsibilities: Leading small groups of guards, taking on more complex tasks, and assisting in the training of recruits.   Lieutenant Description: Usually granted after five years of official service, reflecting a guard's experience and reliability. Responsibilities: Commanding larger groups of guards, planning patrols, and coordinating efforts during significant events or crises.   Captain Description: A rank granted for adeptness in leadership, indicating a high level of trust and competence. Responsibilities: Holding moderate authority, overseeing multiple units, and making strategic decisions in the field.   Major Description: High-ranking officers in charge of their own units. Must be at least this rank to officiate recruit training. Responsibilities: Leading units, developing training programs, and executing large-scale operations.   General Description: Extremely high-ranking officers with significant authority. Answer only to the General Commander. Responsibilities: Overseeing major divisions of the Elven Guard, making strategic decisions at the highest level, and advising the General Commander.   General Commander Description: The highest-ranking officer in the Elven Guard, in charge of the entire organization. Responsibilities: Leading the entire Elven Guard, setting overall strategy, and answering directly to the ruler of Osnein. The current General Commander is Finnea of House Kyso.
