The Aetheneum of Ioun

Ioun was one of the few prime deities directly brought into existence by the dragons of creation. Her power was originally granted to control the use of magic in the multiverse, and what many would later begin to term and call the weave. Her role was neutral in the use and maintenance. Anyone who used their powers in a foul manner was met with justice and banishment for the sake of protecting the weave. As time passed however, the role of neutrality was pushed when the weave was shattered, by Tharizduun.
His corruption tore the weave apart, and with it the ability to directly control magic and its uses, allowing for foul spells and mismanagement of the arcane to run throughout the multiverse. Ioun refocused her efforts, along with those of her followers, into protecting and preserving the truths and knowledge of the past, present and future.
Ioun was gravely injured by Tharizduun before the start of the Dawn War. Her knowledge, and former control of the weave, left her with the most capability in capturing Tharizduun. That was at a cost however. A fragment of Tharizduuns corrupted form became broken off and forever infused into Iouns being. This unhealing wound has drastically weakened her, and in the beginning the Dawn War led to her hiding and seclusion so that she would not meet death at the hands of the betrayer gods.
The knowing mistress has not been seen since that time, keeping herself in hiding to protect her weakened state. The followers of her order still gain power from her. Clerics to the knowing mistress are rare, but still exist across Osserea. Access to her aetheneum is widely sought out by scholars and hunters of arcane secrets.
