Art All Day
Art All Day is a tradition started by the Wallers of Iya in which they decorate their homes and neighborhoods in all manner of arts and crafts. It is a week long celebration of freedom of expression. Some homes are decorated in colorful hues while others can be dark and bland, either way as long as it's an expression of one's self then it is accepted. It started off as a Waller only tradition but has now been adopted by the wealthy of Iya, which has been a source of much tension.
History
Living under the authority of The Federation is a life all Wallers understand and try their best to live through. In order to counter the bleakness of their lives they decided to celebrate through the struggle. They began to decorate their wall hovels and did competitions between themselves. Their freedom of expression allowed them a bit of levity for the week.
Magnates and other well to do Iyans saw this celebration happening and even though they did not understand it at first, they were intrigued and began to mimic the Wallers. The Federation even began to provide decorations for people to buy and display. This mockery of Waller tradition became so common that the Wallers had to find a way to counter their own tradition.
The Wallers still celebrate Art All Day as a form of self expression but for many there is a hidden layer of counter culture. They hide hidden messages in protest to the Federation and the magnates that mocked their tradition. This way they are able to "stick it to the man" without outwardly putting themselves in harm way.
Observance
The 2nd week of Kaehe is when Art All Day is celebrated. It is typically the hottest week of the year, during the hottest month and season. Typically this meant most of the wealthy stayed inside their homes, so it provided a perfect time for the Wallers to be out and about.
