Echoes of the Covergence

As a result of the Planar Convergence, echoes of it ring out across the land, planar rifts are a daily occurrence ranging from minor to major. Minor rifts are the most common and although they can present an issue for any common folk nearby, they are handled pretty easily by those groups that are sworn to protect against them such as the Druidic Enclave or the Monastic Accords. Major rifts on the other hand are the ones that wreak havoc and can cause irreparable harm to the material plane. It is possible for a minor rift over time to expand into a major rift. Regardless of the strength of the rift, most rifts are accompanied by denizens of the incurring plane, such as fey creatures from the Fairie Realm or elementals from one of the outer elemental planes. Not all that come through the rifts mean any harm or even intended to be pulled through the rifts but there are those that believe sinister forces are still working to plunge the material plane into completely disarray...one echo at a time.

Manifestation

Every rift is unique in its exact shape and size, save for minor rifts being significantly smaller than major rifts. Each rift does however exude arcane energy and manifest features of their home plane, as they begin to affect the material plane around them. Those that are bold enough could get close to the rift opening and see the destination on the other side.

Localization

Rifts are only known to appear on the continent of Duankh and although they can appear anywhere, areas with certain arcane energies attuned to different elements or affinities are more likely to draw similarly aligned rifts to them. Large areas laced with abjuration magic are less likely to be visited upon by an echo.
