The Caicorthi Theater
The Caicorthi Theater is a relatively large playhouse in Ward 2 of Ironsted. While it originally garnered popularity due to its reputation as an up-and-coming stage for new playwrights (and as such was the debut theater for many now well-known plays), it has in recent years become a novelty due to the high presence of demon spawn (namely D’hagni and ‘Cubi) gathering & preforming freely. It was founded by Perlious Guavount, a man later revealed to be a follower of D'hagnas and operating under his direction. This information was made public by members of the church as a way to dissuade anyone from associating with the theater, though this proved to be of little consequence to the loyal group of patrons the playhouse was already amassing.
The first recorded instance of demon spawn in the theater was only 5 years after its construction, in the form of a D’hagni named Wytha. He played the role of Carthinis in an early production of “Braids & Bedfellows” - A play that was controversial enough on its own, and one which only garnered more scrutiny after Wytha’s involvement. While many called for the theater’s destruction after brazenly housing a spawn, the mayor of Ironsted at the time (Juliana West) directly opposed the notion. Juliana was known at the time for her rather avant-garde views on The Arts, and eventually became one of Caicorthi’s loudest supporters (even after her term ended prematurely). She actively halted any demon hunting groups that attempted to step in, causing the theater to quickly gain the reputation of a “safe haven” for demon spawn wishing to live out in the open. This later would lead to the cities overall view on demons to be far more lenient than any other on the planet, and is credited as a strong contributing factor in D’hagnas inexplicable political campaign several years later.
Despite its checkered past, The Caicorthi Theater remains a popular destination for those seeking the novelty of walking among demon spawn without peril. While there are constant and vocal critics of the theaters practices (not only for the spawn but also the rather unorthodox nature of the plays), loyal patrons have proved time and time again that they are more than willing to defend the playhouse and those inside – infernal or not. Their cause is helped by the fact that no deaths have been caused by the spawn within, save for defending themselves from hunters.
