Bathyskaf D-502
The Bathyskaf D-502 is a widely operated F-Class Airship used for heavy bulk transport. The D-500 series has one of the most powerful turbines available on the market. Allowing it to maintain higher speeds when faced with strong headwinds.
Design History
1928 Bathyskaf Aviagilta was contracted by the Burgiss Airguard to design a heavy armored troop air transport. By the end of 1928 the X-500 was presented to the Burgiss Air- Marshal's Council. The X-500 was a rigid body airship, with two two envelopes and a gondola containing a gun turret. All the parts had been armored. Air boyancy was guaranteed, but it had to be fitted with 10 Latuma heavy lift props for lift and propulsion. While it's performance and spec was up to the councils expectations, there was worry due to it size, making it a hypothetical larger target, and the 10 heavy lift propellers, which made it incredibly loud. The X-500 project was halted, but the dual-envelope rigging and heavy prop design was reused for the construction of the smaller but faster X-600, which are still in use by the Burgiss Airguard today. Bathyskaf Aviagilta kept the design of the fortified envelope and went on to use it in the construction of the D-501 for commercial long distance airtravel, and the D-502 for commercial heavy bulk transport.Variants
