Laird Sadach's Order
Overview
Laird Sadach's Order is perhaps the most feared Order in all of Éirigh. Created by the powerful Laird Breith Sadach, known throughout the kingdom for his cruel nature and brutality, and lead by a Seneschal of equal metal, it's no wonder they have become such a force.
The Order is first introduced in Book One of OUTSPOKEN, as the main character is a member (See: Lucian "Deordhan" Cathasach). Like most of his fellow Knights, he himself fears the Order, and as both a Bond Servant and a Deordhan, his reasons are doubled. But what the order will ultimately be asked to do is far beyond his worst fears.
All at once, I become aware of the faces watching our approach - the devastation, the exhaustion, the pleading in their eyes - and I know. The foreman steps out to greet us, his eyes grim. Without a word he ushers us inside, and I can’t shake the feeling that I’m walking straight into a lion’s den.
“Sir Dorchadas, I apologize for the lack of a welcoming party, we were expecting you -“
“None of the pleasantries, Rún. You’ve clearly had quite the eventful night, let’s not pretend this is business as usual.” Lorcan cuts him off, not unkindly, and the man nods, twiddling his callused thumbs anxiously.
“Begging your pardon, Sir. Our families gathered the rents yesterday, as we were instructed. We understood you must have been held up, so we collected everything in the smithy’s stables to ensure your collection ran smoothly whenever you should arrive. But late last night, a fire broke out. We’re still trying to figure out -“
“How much is left?” Lorcan breaks in again, his face straight as stone.
“None of it, Sir.” Jonthan’s face is weary, his fear visceral. It fills the room, permeating my skin like a thousand paper cuts.

Structure
As with any Order, they exist to carry out Laird Breith Sadach's will in his lands, and he has full control over their lives. For day to day direction, they look to Sir Lorcan Dorchadas, Laird Sadach's Seneschal. Other Knights of the Order are often given limited, temporary power by Lorcan for various tasks, based upon need.
Culture
A culture of fear permeates the Order. Laird Breith Sadach and Sir Lorcan Dorchadas are hard, brutal leaders, and one step out of line could mean instant death. Most of the Knights of the Order are just as hardened, and in turn are deeply feared by the Tenants and even the servants of Laird Sadach's household.
The only exceptions to this rule are found in two of the main characters of OUTSPOKEN: Lucian "Deordhan" Cathasach, who is a Bond Servant without the power of a free Knight, and Sir Dílis Amaladh, for reasons discovered at the end of Book One.
Public Agenda
To carry out Laird Breith Sadach's commands to the letter, no matter what moral implications may come of it. This, of course, is made more complicated by the rise of The New Order, in which they play a key role.
Assets
All the wealth and power of Laird Breith Sadach, who ensures they live comfortably -- even if his manner of so doing is a constant reminder of their place beneath him.
