Draco Puer

Draco Puer

Draco Puer is a subrace that can be added to any medium humanoid race. When you choose to add this subrace to your character choose one of the five race features: Dreadcaller, Scaleheart, Murkdweller, Steelscale, or Wayfarer. Bonuses from Draco Puer do not stack. For example: if your race already has powerful build you do not gain powerful build from the Dreadcaller option. Or if your race already grants you a +1 stat bonus you do not gain the stat bonus. Draco Puer is given as an additional subrace option. You cannot take the Draco Puer subrace and one of your races subraces (if it has any).

Dreadcaller

Draconian Fear: You can roar as an action, forcing each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier.) They automatically succeed on the save if they can't hear you. On a failed save the target becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. If the frightened target takes any damage, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success. You regain the use of this trait after finishing a long rest.
Powerful Build: You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Scaleheart

Breath Weapon: You gain use of a breath weapon corresponding to your draconian heritage. You can use your breath weapon as an action on your turn. The DC for the saving throw is 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest. To determine the shape and damage type of your breath weapon choose which colour of dragon you are descended from and then consult the Dragonborn chart.
Natural Weapons: You grow retractable claws from the tips of your fingers. Extending or retracting the claws requires no action. The claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier.

Murkdweller

Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern colour in darkness, only shades of gray. If you already have darkvision, your range is increased by 30ft.
Prehensile Tail: Your tail is prehensile and can manipulate objects up to a range of 10ft. The tail can only lift a number of pounds equal to your strength score (This does not apply when attempting to shove or grapple a creature). You can use it to do the following simple asks: lift, drop, hold, push, or pull an object or creature; open or close a door or a container; grapple someone; or make an unarmed strike. Your DM might allow other simple tasks to be added to that list of options. Your tail can't wield weapons or shields or do anything that requires manual precision, such as using tools or magic items, or performing the somatic components of a spell.
Tail Lash: You can use your tail to slap or trip up opponents. You may use your bonus action to shove an opponent within 5ft of you. You can make shove actions to opponents within 10ft, but if you do, you may only pull them 5ft towards yourself.

Steelscale

Hardened Scales: You gain a +1 bonus to your AC while not wearing heavy armor. If you are not wearing armor you can calculate your AC with a base of 13 instead of 10. A shield's benefits apply as normal.
Hardened Resistance: You have resistance to the damage type related to your dragon colour. Additionally, once per long rest you can reroll a failed saving throw. If you do so you must use the new roll.

Wayfarer

Wings: You have draconian wings sprouting from just below your shoulder blades. You have a flying speed of 30 feet when you aren't wearing heavy armor. The speed increases by 10ft at 5th level, 10th level, 15th level, and 20th level.
Draconian Savagery: When you make a melee attack on your turn, you can use your bonus action to make a bite attack as an unarmed strike. On a hit, it deals deals piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength or Dexterity Modifier (minimum 1) as well as an additional 1d4 damage of the type associated with your dragon colour. This additional damage increases to 2d4 at 6th level, 3d4 at 11th level, and 4d4 at 16th level. You can do this a number of times per day equal to your strength modifier (minimum 1). You regain all chargers after a short or long rest.

Causes

Draco Puer seems to have two possible sources. Some people believe that, like Inferna Sanguinem and Numen Anima, Draco Puer comes from corruption from the gods war. However, since dragons come from the material plane other scholars believe that those with Draco Puer are direct descendants of a dragon. Thanks to the ability of many dragons to take on a human form this belief is not only founded but has been supported by some dragons in the past.

Symptoms

Those born with Draco Puer, sometimes called half-dragons, exhibit many signs of their heritage. These most often show up in the form of: horns, tinted skin, scaly or partially scaly skin, tails, sharp teeth, pointed ears or no ears, vertical pupils, strangely colored irises, and sometimes even wings.

Hosts & Carriers

Draco Puer has appeared in all manner of humanoid races and does not seem to have a preferred host.

Cultural Reception

Reception of those carrying Draco Puer is as varied as the colours of dragons. Some people see it as a blessing while others see only a monster. Often the colour of dragon represented on a carrier is enough to sway people's mood.
