Killian O'Grady
Killian O'Grady was one of the Five Elders. Some would argue that he was their leader, but others would point out that the Five largely followed their own counsel and when they worked together would often pass the role around depending on what the situation called for.
He was blinded as a child, but as the story goes no one noticed for months because his other senses were so acute that they more than made up for it. He had a kind of precognition, a sixth sense that informed him of dangers. To go along with it, he had the fighting skills to back himself up.
Killian needed it, because his temper kept getting him into trouble. Before he reached the legal drinking age, he'd been in and out of jail for disorderly behavior. Whether just to fight, or to help someone who needed it, Killian constantly threw himself into danger. When the Five banded together, it was Killian's initiative that threw them into battle against Acton and Actricia.
Some historical psychologists have argued that he likely acted this way to keep others from living through the same trauma that he did. Killian's parents were minions of an Evil Overlord who abandoned him when a Hero threatened them. Killian was unaware of this through much of his childhood, fueling his anger, but eventually discovered that they'd been under threat of their lives and had left him behind to protect him. He resented them for much of his childhood, but then found out they did it to save him and they'd died shortly after leaving him behind.
Killian committed much of his life to preventing the same kinds of tragedies he'd suffered. Namely, over-zealous heroes and villains on either side of the Balance taking the conflict too far and endangering the innocent lives around them.
