Misty Manualist Madness

Misty Manualist Madness is a condition that can occur after visiting certain parts of the Forest of Pain. It is believed to be caused by the mixture of specific toxic plants, and is believed to come into effect by breathing toxic mist.
The symptoms present in people who use their hands to talk. This includes people using sign language and those who gesticulate when they speak. When they attempt to do this, their hands turn to mist, which renders the gestures very difficult to pick out. It can be a real problem for those expected to communicate with the deaf.
The "madness" part of the condition comes from the irritability of those presented with this difficulty. The illness renders it more and more difficult to cope with the frustration, until finally the person goes full rage monster and attempts to destroy all around them. Fortunately for those around them, the disease treats this as an attempt to communicate and so their hands turn to mist which means they can't do much.
Luckily, the madness is easily treatable, and even untreated will usually go away in about a year.
