League of Monster Hunters

"... and as the beast snapped me axe in two, I jumped on his back I did, and strangled him with me bare hands! Aye, there's nothing like felling a giant angry lizard with yer bare hands, lad!" -Grugnir Ironfist, describing how he strangled an allosaur to death, allegedly.
As the name suggests, the League of Monster Hunters is a conglomerate of Monster Hunting Guilds spread all across Oxum. Though every guild is self-governed, its individual members are considered members of all other guilds present in the world and thus have access to any official guild. The guild's main purpose is to hunt down specific beasts, aberrations and other monstrous beings that may harm the local populous, enticing hunters to hunt down these prey in exchange for renown and a hefty bounty. Anyone can put up a bounty at one of the guilds if they wish to see a specific monster eliminated, though the guilds often act on their own behalf as well.

Structure

The Lord of the Hunt stands at the top of the League and is a title that is continuously up for grabs. Any hunter that has reached the highest rank and has the most renown among their peers is elected the Lord of the Hunt, who has control over when and where new guilds can be built and who governs them.   Master Hunters are those who stand at the very top of the hierarchy, a title that can only be reached by slaying at least one legendary beats or accomplishing an impressive hunt. These are the very Elite of the league and often are employed by heads of state to hunt down particularly dangerous beings, with hefty rewards in return.   Hunters make up the bulk of the League, and vary wildly when it comes to their influence, gear and skill. Everything from a fledgling hunter to more experienced renowned hunters make up this rank and are often employed by Master Hunters to go on bigger hunts.   Guildmasters are a different type of leader in the League, as these are often made up from experienced hunters, though they are not required to be the best of the best in order to own a guild. Guildmasters oversee operation in a certain radius around their guildhall, keeping the locals safe in return for gold, put up bounties for hunters and sell equipment to members of the League.

Assets

The League's assets are not as numerous as any nation's military, yet their members are often well-geared for any task given to them, though most tend to specialize in dealing with specific types of monsters. Able to employ engineers and smiths from any land their have a guild present, their equipment is often highly sophisticated and fine-tuned to deal with specific monstrosities. Hunters vary from goblin-hunters to witch hunters, undead-cleansing paladins and big game hunters.

Demography and Population

The League contains hunters from all over Oxum, though their specialties depend on their race. At the moment, there are a few thousand official hunters enlisted in the League with a majority being settled in regions close to the borders of the Realm of Monsters as monstrous activity tends to be the highest here.

No greater thrill than that of the hunt!
