Scarlet Monroe demands an investigation into the death of Willow Monroe and accuses Helga Bloodswell of accidentally (or not accidentally) killing her. When a poisonous substance is found in Willow's medicines, Helga provides a valid alibi and is cleared of guilt.
"However, a schism occurred when Willow died; her daughter Scarlet, who’d married Talon Thorneheart, claimed that Helga Bloodswell, Rowen’s daughter, had performed a spell incorrectly, causing Willow’s death. After the investigation, poison was found in a tea given to Willow that only the Bloodswell family had the recipe of, though Helga produced a verifiable alibi that cleared her of guilt. The coven couldn’t continue under the leadership of both families, there had been too much antagonism for that to even be an option. It was thereby agreed upon that, in accordance to Moira Monroe’s will, Willow’s family line would take up the leadership permanently and the Bloodswell family would act as a safeguard in case something were to prevent a Thorneheart from leading. Scarlet became the first to lead the coven alone."
