201 - Freewriting About A Favourite

Take a few minutes to write about your favourite character from a novel. What is the character like and what about that do you particularly like? What are the character's flaws and what makes them likeable in spite of those flaws?

Jane Eyre

I love Jane from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. She is young but fiesty and determined. She is not always a reliable narrator - I think she sells herself short in several areas - but she is honest from her perspective. She is relatable.   She subtly undermines things, puts up with an awful lot and holds herself apart from other people without really knowing how to connect. When she's thrown into the heart of a family, she doesn't know what to do and is much happier when she is decoding the social politics which Mr Rochester throws at her. She is smart and doesn't let her position or the way in which society sees her stop her from doing the best she can with what she has.
