Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Before they reached the point of space travel, their culture was very much their own, but with the advent of seeking brave new worlds and the conflict known as the Formation of the Empire with the Peacekeepers, they are now under control of the Peacekeeper Empire  All cultural activities which relate to what Asora was when it was independent have since been banned. They say that culture is the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, and the Peacekeepers believe this strongly. All Asora culture is now based around the glory of the Peacekeeper Empire and the importance of giving of yourself for the betterment of everyone else.

Shared customary codes and values

The Asora were once a peaceful people whose shared values were aligned around community, treating others as you would want to be treated and a sense of camaraderie or sticking with people through thick and thin. while this is still at the core of the culture they are much more aligned with Peacekeeper ideals now, which are more centred around advancement and the absolute belief that the Peacekeeper Empire is the greatest in the universe.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

Originally the Asora were an egalitarian society built off the back of a matriarchy. Part of their initiation into the Peacekeeper Empire included the destruction of their social structures and a rebuilding to match more closely the Peacekeeper ideals and it is now verging more on the patriarchal side, with a belief that there are things men are simply more capable of than women.

Relationship Ideals

The Asora society of old was very open minded about relationships and while people would tend to stick in monogamous groups or pairs when a break-down occurred it was mostly amicable as long as open communication about it occurred. With the change to become part of the Peacekeeper Empire, relationships became restricted to pairs, with a strong belief that there is only one person out there for everyone.
