Astaro Windrivver is The Archmage of Archanax. She is rarely seen outside of the school, except on days of major meetings at The Citadel.
Many know her for the event that solidified Archanax as the legendary school that it is today. 70 years ago, when Astaro was still a student at Achanax, Several legions of Drow soldiers arrived to conquer Bollodar. The Council sent most of their forces up The Great Elevator to defend Komodorth and Lodhir.
While the bulk of both armies were fighting in the upper parts of The Imperial Highway there was another, smaller, legion of Drow coming through the lower Imperial Highway. By chance Astaro had been returning with a group of friends from Blodheim ruins, when the Drow legion attacked the outpost fort along the Imperial Highway. Her friends and her raced as fast as they could ahead of the Drow legion, but when they got to Bollodar The Council would not listen to them. Astaro, having previously discovered that The Council was exploiting poor children to create super soldiers, extorted the council for supplies.
Using the supplies from The Council she took 100 volunteers from Bollodar and in a short amount of time trained them all to use simple spells. With her commanding the volunteer army they managed to defeat the legion of 4,000 Drow.
