An Interview with Cassilda Shajara

Are you a morning person, or more of a night owl?
Being an elf means I don’t need to sleep, although I do like to take the mornings off anyway.
What’s the first thing you notice about a person when you meet them?
Oh, their outfit, definitely. If it’s daring, they’re probably more fun.
You see a huge spider in your room, what do you do?
Does the spider like to party?
If you could go back and change one decision you made in the past, what would you change?
I lost a very large emerald on a game of hasard once, maybe that?
Tell me about your first kiss.
Oh, I couldn’t - there might be kids present.
Do you give people second chances?
Of course - no need to ruin the vibe.
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
I prefer all my animals a bit more exotic. But I’ve summoned a hound or two before.
Do you think you’re attractive?
Don’t you?
What’s your worst habit?
Definitely my husband.
When was the last time you cried?
I do it for thirty or forty minutes every Eclipseday, for therapeutic reasons.
Are you a good liar?
Definitely; it’s usually so much more fun than telling the truth.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
When someone has an outfit too similar to mine.
Have you ever had your heart broken?
Who has time?
Are you more likely to use your fists or your words in an argument?
I’m more likely to use words. I have a little monkey to do the fists for me.
What’s something you’re naturally good at?
I was born under a lucky confluence of stars. It lets me vibe with the dreams of the city.
What’s something you had to work hard to be good at?
I put a lot of effort into mastering my blood magic - which is rare for me; I don’t like to work hard if there’s the option to play instead.
Can you tell when someone is flirting with you?
Of course; it makes them fun.
Do you think money can buy happiness?
It can definitely buy pleasure.
Do you believe in destiny?
Oh yes, but I don’t know that it’s for us.
Are you a good cook?
No, but I’m a very fine diner.
What do you think happens after you die?
Oh, gosh, I’ll think about that when I’m, uh, older.
Did you have to grow up fast?
Elves never do, and I’m a very lucky elf.
Who do you look up to?
I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today without my husband’s gifts and conviction.
When you go to a tavern, what do you order?
They don’t sell the things I drink at just taverns.
What do you like most about yourself?
My sense of adventure? Second place goes to my smile.
What do you like least about yourself?
I can’t quite keep up with my husband - little bit of a lightweight!
Do you want kids someday?
Ask me much, much later.
Are you a planner or more spontaneous?
My sweet husband and our wonderful Castellan take care of all the planning in the household, so I can enjoy being spontaneous.
Can you keep a secret?
Ooh, it’s hard - you’ll have to make it worth it!
Do you like being the centre of attention?
You’ve seen some of my outfits, haven’t you?
If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?
Something drastically naughty.
Do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?
That’s not really in question, is it?
Where do you feel safe?
Anywhere my sweet Yhtill is looking out for us.
Do you love or hate being alone?
I take some private Me Time every once in a while, but I think everyone really knows I’m a party girl.
What’s the last nightmare you remember having?
Ooh, some things you’re not meant to know!
Do you admit to mistakes when you make them?
Not if I don’t have to!
Do you want to grow up to be like your parents?
I’m afraid they were much too boring for anyone to imitate.
How do you deal with being sick? Are you stoic or super whiney?
I think I’m very whiny until I get cured, but fortunately we’re very good at curing things.
What did your parents expect from you when you were born?
Not a lot, and nothing worth thinking about.
Do you have a strong sense of style?
Stronger than anyone - well, almost anyone.
Would you rather camp outdoors or stay the night in an inn?
I’m not the kind to live rough - barring one or two very specific activities.
Is there a food that most people like but you absolutely hate?
Almost everything that isn’t perfectly spicy or sweet or crisp - life’s too short to experience blandness. Even mine!
Are you more of a hoarder or a minimalist?
Well, even though I don’t sleep, I have multiple beds each with a very large number of pillows. Also often with a very large number of associated companions!
Are you superstitious?
Definitely!
Are you the kind of person who remembers people’s birthdays and pet’s names and stuff?
Oh no, I have many more interesting things to learn instead!
What do you do to feel better when you’re sad?
Oh, I always have so many options - my current most common, I think, is a combination of keif, honeydust and, ah, Thale.
Is it hard for you to trust someone?
With my life? Sure. With my drink? Definitely. With a good time? Never!
Are you susceptible to peer pressure?
Sounds boring.
If you decided to stop adventuring and settle down, what kind of job would you take?
Oof, I’d rather not picture having a job to be honest.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An adventurer. I studied archaeology before I discovered it was boring.
