An Interview with Grimoire Brasseyes

Are you a morning person, or more of a night owl?
All the most interesting things come out at night, me among them.
What’s the first thing you notice about a person when you meet them?
If they have anything on them that might be magical, and if so, whether it’s the kind that might be worth my time.
You see a huge spider in your room, what do you do?
I speak spider. We’ll find out why it’s here.
If you could go back and change one decision you made in the past, what would you change?
Hmm. I suppose if I’d learned the Death Alarm Rune earlier and I’d known what would happen to Rifi, I’d have marked him as well as Cody, and might at least have found out what he knew or did.
Tell me about your first kiss.
Oh, it was Rifi. Not my most noteworthy experience even with him.
Do you give people second chances?
I’ve never had cause to.
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
If I had to take one, cats are slightly more interesting.
Do you think you’re attractive?
Oh, probably. I don’t much care.
What’s your worst habit?
People seem to split on whether it’s recklessness or being a creepy little freak.
When was the last time you cried?
Earlier tonight,*{Goldday, Tailormoon, 1313} but before that it was six years ago.
Are you a good liar?
Not really, I suppose, but I’m not in jail.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Dullards. People who oppose curiosity or a sense of adventure.
Have you ever had your heart broken?
Nope.
Are you more likely to use your fists or your words in an argument?
My words can do a lot more damage than my fists can. Or many other people’s.
What’s something you’re naturally good at?
Archaeology is my real passion.
What’s something you had to work hard to be good at?
That’s a secret.
Can you tell when someone is flirting with you?
Not to my knowledge.
Do you think money can buy happiness?
Only if you’re clever with it.
Do you believe in destiny?
Not for me.
Are you a good cook?
Only when I cheat.
What do you think happens after you die?
I think there’s a wider range of options than people realise.
Did you have to grow up fast?
Not yet, certainly.
Who do you look up to?
I try not to. But I like Cody for staying interesting into adulthood.
When you go to a tavern, what do you order?
Wormwood tonic, with a shot of aragh sagi if they haven’t checked my age.
What do you like most about yourself?
I’m very, very clever.
What do you like least about yourself?
…I suppose it would be nice to be better at making friends.
Do you want kids someday?
Plenty of time to think about that later.
Are you a planner or more spontaneous?
I’ve rarely seen a plan that didn’t fail anyway.
Can you keep a secret?
Well enough.
Do you like being the centre of attention?
Makes things fun.
If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?
Experiment. No-one ever knows anything for sure and that’s one I’d rather get proved wrong on.
Do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?
I tend to dress ostentatiously regardless. As a noble, you can do that.
Where do you feel safe?
Anywhere, if I came prepared.
Do you love or hate being alone?
Gives me time to study.
What’s the last nightmare you remember having?
A certain entity showed me the end of the world once. Not much counts as a nightmare after that.
Do you admit to mistakes when you make them?
Not to you.
Do you want to grow up to be like your parents?
It’s not my first plan.
How do you deal with being sick? Are you stoic or super whiney?
I suppose I don’t deal well, but I’m never sick for long.
What did your parents expect from you when you were born?
Not a lot. I am third in line, and a girl. But I’ve found ways to improve on what expectations were there.
Do you have a strong sense of style?
I suppose so.
Would you rather camp outdoors or stay the night in an inn?
Inns are comfier.
Is there a food that most people like but you absolutely hate?
To be honest, I tend to enjoy my food in general to be less… pedestrian than the mainstream.
Are you more of a hoarder or a minimalist?
You could certainly say I collect things, when they interest me.
Are you superstitious?
Oh, I certainly am. Never tried to hide it.
Are you the kind of person who remembers people’s birthdays and pet’s names and stuff?
No.
What do you do to feel better when you’re sad?
I read, or sometimes I experiment.
Is it hard for you to trust someone?
Very hard, unless I’ve got them pinned to a corner.
Are you susceptible to peer pressure?
Nope.
If you decided to stop adventuring and settle down, what kind of job would you take?
I mean, I’d still be a noble. Or if I wasn’t… by the time I grow up, I’m assuming Elderton will need a new archaeology professor.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A wizard. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.
