Doppelgängers (an Elven word, literally meaning "Double Walker") are creations of the Thing In the Downstairs Room. They are shapeshifters who can mimic any creatures they have seen before. In their natural form, they are light grey, rubbery-skinned creatures with no facial features other than a pair of vacant, milky white eyes. When a Doppelgänger dies, it remains in the form it died in.
