Hail, Holy Queen (Queen of the Sea's Lament)
Hail, holy queen, the Queen of the Sea,
Whirling In Rags of brine
Lost to the tides of memory
Lost to the tides of time
All the tradition this city once had
Now in perdition She’s Vast and She’s Sad. Long long ago her presence was near,
Now she’s a Sabkha dry,
Deserted and lonely, shed one salted tear,
Hear now her silent cry
Our city’s a valley surrounded by land
All of her family swept under the sand. Lai-lai-lai-lai, lai-lai, lai-lai,
Hail holy Queen of the Sea
Lai-lai-lai-lai, lai-lai, lai-lai,
Whirling in misery,
Just like the coral we cling to her reef
Ever in sorrow and ever in grief. Reflections on water, reflections on past,
Reflections on times gone by,
Waves of erosion where nothing can last,
Lamenting the ocean’s goodbye,
Has anyone seen where it went? Only she,
Hail, holy queen, the Queen of the Sea.
Whirling In Rags of brine
Lost to the tides of memory
Lost to the tides of time
All the tradition this city once had
Now in perdition She’s Vast and She’s Sad. Long long ago her presence was near,
Now she’s a Sabkha dry,
Deserted and lonely, shed one salted tear,
Hear now her silent cry
Our city’s a valley surrounded by land
All of her family swept under the sand. Lai-lai-lai-lai, lai-lai, lai-lai,
Hail holy Queen of the Sea
Lai-lai-lai-lai, lai-lai, lai-lai,
Whirling in misery,
Just like the coral we cling to her reef
Ever in sorrow and ever in grief. Reflections on water, reflections on past,
Reflections on times gone by,
Waves of erosion where nothing can last,
Lamenting the ocean’s goodbye,
Has anyone seen where it went? Only she,
Hail, holy queen, the Queen of the Sea.
