Notes on the Divine

C
Tinker works for greater ease,
Tailor works for art alone,
Soldier works through enemies,
Sailor works through realms unknown,
Rich Man works within his hall,
Poor Man works to keep his fief,
Beggar Man don't work at all,
And they get worked by the Thief!
Tinker's rules permit no leak,
Tailor rules to test our skill,
Soldier rules against the weak,
Sailor rules against the still,
Rich Man rules that one must take,
Poor Man rules with no relief,
Beggar Man's rules are to break,
And there's no rules for the Thief!

F
Tinker moulds the towered cake,
Tailor weaves patisserie,
Soldier skewers the raw red steak,
Sailor braves the ceviche,
Rich Man buys the argent roe,
Poor Man mills bread from the sheaf,
Beggar hides his gin in dough,
And don't accept food from the Thief!
Tinker's ant builds on the hill,
Tailor's worm spins on the thread,
Soldier's rhino's on the kill,
Sailor's whale swims on ahead,
Rich Man's shark preys on the scammed,
Poor Man's dog strains on the leash,
Beggar's rats are on the lam,
And the crow spies on the Thief!

B flat
Tinker blames a lack of skill,
Tailor blames a lack of taste,
Soldier blames a lack of will,
Sailor blames the place we're placed,
Rich Man blames the men that plead,
Poor Man blames it on the chief,
Beggar Man blames normal greed,
When the one to blame's the Thief!
E flat
Tinker loves the diligent,
Tailor loves the haute couture,
Soldier loves the militant,
Sailor loves the not-yet-sure,
Rich Man loves the ones above,
Poor Man loves the ones beneath,
Beggar Man loves the unloved,
And the loveless have the Thief!
