Song of Carcosa

Starts on Ab-->D (RH) Alternating G octaves (LH)   Along a far shore do the far cloud waves break,
As the twin suns sink deeper behind Hali's lake,
Dead eyes beyond walls in the dimness awake
As the shadows lengthen on
In Lost Carcosa.   Oh strange is the night where the black stars arise
And the strange moons go circling through strange-coloured skies
As they're watched through a mask by His strange Saffron eyes
But more strange and stranger still
Is Lost Carcosa.   The songs that the Hyades sang then and since,
Where in tatters of scallops flap rags of the Prince,
And which through the dimness dark secrets evince,
Still must die, and die unheard
In Lost Carcosa.   Oh song of my soul, when my voice lieth dead,
Die thou also, unsung, now, as tears never shed
Shall dry and shall die as their cries go unsaid,
In the shadow of the Prince
In Lost Carcosa.
