The Song of the Eight ("To the Garden we will go")

Prologue
Eight constellations in the sky,
Look down on us from way up high,
They guide us so that when we die,
To the Garden we will go.
Tinker, Tailor both create,
Soldier, Sailor propagate,
Rich and Poor domesticate,
Beggar, Thief: Trick! That's the Eight.

The Tinker's Verse
The strengthening of city walls
Protect us as our city falls
With clockwork golem arsenals
We can hear the Tinker calls.
Build like the Tinker can build,
Forged of stone and Forged of Will,
Pragmatic and functional,
To the Garden we will go.

The Tailor's Verse
In finest silk, the perfumed rose,
In galleries, and puppet shows,
In bright stage lights or studios,
We can see the Tailor's clothes.
Sing of the Tailor's delight,
With melodies Woven in Starlight,
Great art and poetry we write
To the Garden we will go.

The Soldier's Verse
The elementals take up arms
They're bound in gems by summon charms
All who oppose will come to harms
Hear the Solider's call to arms.
To fight for the Solider we throng
All foes are weak No Battle Too Strong
We care not if we're right or wrong
To the Garden we will go.

The Sailor's Verse
The highest of observatories,
Above restricted libraries,
Gatekeeping all the heresies,
That is what the Sailor sees.
The Sailor guides us to explore
To seek the truth No Journey Too Far
And travel out beyond the stars,
To the Garden we will go.

The Rich Man's Verse
In order for financial health
The market oversees itself
Accumulating endless wealth
Is the tale the Rich Man tells.
Pay what the Rich Man will cost for
In his court The Favoured Shall Prosper
Accept this lucrative offer
To the Garden we will go.

The Poor Man's Verse
To labour in the field or mill,
Through daytime heat or nighttime chill
Can feel like pushing rocks uphill
But we know the Poor Man's drill.
Work is the Poor Man's concern
We never shirk, The Loyal Shall Earn
Each of the family in turn
To the Garden we will go.

The Beggar Man's Verse
With subtle eyes and silent feet
Investigators watch the street
And if and when they raise the heat
Hope the Beggar Man stays sweet.
The lucky pass the Beggar Man's trial
With smarts and wits By Daylight and Guile
The trickster path is quite in style
To the Garden we will go.

The Thief's Verse
A glint upon a hidden knife
A whispered threat, a taken life
A message written in a cyph-er
You'll never see him strike.
Kill those the Thief knows had it coming,
Stalk the night By Shadow and Cunning,
Be the nightmare that they're shunning,
To the Garden we will go.

Finale
So now you know the deities
Who keep our city nice and greased
And if you keep them nice and pleased
To the Garden you will go.
Tinker, Tailor both create,
Soldier, Sailor propagate,
Rich and Poor domesticate,
Beggar, Thief: Trick! That's the Eight.
