The Druid Oath Circle Spell in Paneus | World Anvil

The Druid Oath Circle

Scholars and mages have spent many a year and resource trying to replicate the Druid Oath Circle, to no avail. None but the Druid Grove Keepers know how to perform it or even where it came from. It is one of the many secrets the Druids keep, and there are those who say it is too powerful and important to be kept by the Druids alone. The Druids will say, this is precisely the reason it should be kept by the Druids.

Effect

The spell binds two or more individuals to the terms stated during the laying of the spell. Each participant is marked with a small circle of runes, that can always be felt by the wearer, to remind them of the gravity of their Oath. If any party breaks the terms of the Oath it can immediately be felt by the others, the same is true if any of them die or move beyond the Central Planes.

The runes of an Oath breaker will glow brightly and burn searingly hot with spirit magic, this effect can only be stopped by a Grove Keeper

Manifestation

A circle of bright light in constantly shifting colours, springs up between the casters. Each caster a point on the circumference. As the terms of the Oath are spoken by the participants in the centre, the circle draws slowly closed forming a flat horizontal disc of shifting light. The Oath runes form upon this disc and, upon completion, float up and sink into the skin of the participants. The circle then snaps back out and vanishes.

Discovery

The spell was used, for the first time in recorded history, at the end of the Damoth war. It has been used sparingly since, as it requires The Keepers to leave their Groves. A thing which they are loath to do unless the need is great and important to the balance of peace within Paneus.
