S137 Recap: The Third Road Home | Ep80: Too Many Fir Darrigs
General Summary
What if I told you that y'all wiped the floor with the fir darrigs & the only really notable thing that happened was Serenas getting heckled by a fir darrig Hannibal Burress style? Because that's really all I remember > #BusinessAsUsual > Okay, fight may be over but the horses (and Feathers) are still stunned from the psionic avalanche so Red–Oak just lifts and moves the whole ass cart while #TeamSameBirthday are back on their bullshit with twin Nat20 #AminalHambling checks. > #CritCount2, #GoodCrits2, #FinalCritCount > Unfortunately, the current state is supernaturally induced and thus can't be cured with TLC alone > #Sadge > Speaking of #Sadge— Covakirin “Daughter of Two Workaholics” Aecasi is deeply frustrated by the fact she didn't contribute to this fight as much as she felt she should've. This isn't comedic so we're not gonna dwell on it but this is the first sign she's in her head about shit now that she's back in Asland. > #TheAngstBegineths > Anyways she takes a catnap (complete with dimcat summoning lmao) while Corayas realizes the spell he used on Nova & Serenas earlier would also work on the horses. This wasn't in the session but please know that casting heroism on Klipper & Seacaster made them as exactly as insufferable as you'd expect. A horse with immunity to fear is a direct threat to reality as we know it. > #NoFearImmunityForHorses2k18 > After all that we breeze right over like ten days of travel with the note that the fir darrig attacks have been an everyday event while on the road. As has the rain. Also Kirin is experiencing echoes of her past in ways that are what one might call concerning... We are not in the highest spirits. > #RainyDays > So when Cavidian stops the cart and rouses Kirin from her rest inside the cart, it is with heavy heart that Kirin realizes where they are— “Already?‽” > Yeahhhhhhhhhh, tis time for Grief™ > #WeAttaGraveyardGang > I drop some lore about mortuary practices and also give Romad a lil moment of being stopped by the guardian of these grounds and to prove his sincerity as we follow Kirin, who has uncharacteristically (at least compared to her usual self) bolted off on her own without saying anything despite obvious distress. Running through the orchard of pomegranate trees —each tied with cloths of woven fibers carrying scent markings full of emotions for the departed souls— Kirin relies more on smell and memory than sight as the shadows and laughter of her childhood blur her other senses. So when she is met with the massive figure of a wizened old dire wolf in front of Caspadin's gravetree she is brought to a sudden and almighty halt. > “Oh..! Kirin— I'm glad to see you're back from your expedition.” > There in front of her stood Sir Marsden Talmirin, mother of Caspadin... > AND THAT'S WHERE WE'LL PICK UP ON MONDAY!
