Creating Your Prologue
Your first session will be a reenactment of your character's story. Together, we'll collaborate to help build your character's past and motives. This will be the one session that you will have almost full control over so let loose! Also feel free to watch other players' prologue sessions, to get a feel for their characters as well. Here are some things to help you get started:
What Story Do You Want to Tell
You have the power to decide what story you want to tell, based on your character and their story. We want to highlight your character, what they've been through, and what they can do. This does not necessarily need to be their backstory (but this does help). What we're looking for is a chance to highlight your character, what they can do, and what they've been through. Hopefully, through your prologue session, you are given the time to really feel your character and discover who they are. In creating the prologue, you and I will discuss the following:- What experiences does your character go through? What events do you want to feature?
- Who is involved in your story? Who are the characters that help you versus put you down?
- Where does the story take place? Does it take place in your hometown or somewhere else?
- How does your character respond to the events? How do they feel?
How Do You Want To Tell It
Imagine this session to be a written story. There are many different ways to showcase this story. The most common way is to move sequentially. We can introduce all the characters, conflicts, and conclusions in sequential order. But you aren't restricted to this format. Really, any style is allowed, as long as it displays what you want to showcase about your character. Examples of ways to showcase your story:- Sequential order (like an anime episode)
- Narrator's POV (story is told through you or an NPC)
- Flashback sequence (through dreams or other sources)
