Pror Cuas (pɾoɾ kwas)

One of the most famous, and loved composers from Nagri. He wrote a dozen operas in his career, and for eight of them he both composed the music and wrote the entire libretto. His fourth opera, "Cupbearer to the Gods," is his most famous one, which launched him into international fame, scandal and forced him to flee his home country, Nagri and settle in Thieis for the rest of his life. Most people say he wrote his best work during this years of exile.
Pror's home country, Nagri, was in one of its long periods of authoritarian rule, when he finished the opera "Cupbearer to the Gods," and tried to have the Imperial Opera House in Edaris Pelu perform it. Because it was about gay love and sex, the government banned the opera from being played in the nation. They had just established quite punitive laws about homosexuality in the nation, and tried to have Pror arrested based on those laws. Fortunately friends of his warned him of the arrest and he was able to flee to the more open minded Thieis Nation.
In Dot Clyr, Pror had a series of long term relationships with other men, and lived together with them. At the time it was not possible for two men to marry, unfortunately. Almost nobody, but some religious groups, objected to Pror living with other men. The religious groups were a loud minority, with no real influence, so they were mostly ignored. The first few relationships only lasted between a couple of months, to a year, until he met Jacob, the man he came to spend the rest of his life with. Pror and Jacob would take in homeless teenager boys and give them a home, until they became adults, and make sure they got an education and a profession. A few of them became stage hands at the The Royal Opera and a couple of them even became opera singers, with Pror's and Jacob's help.
The homeless teens that Pror and his mate helped were prostitutes, that they helped get out of that life and back into respectable society again. They were alone in doing this, because the rest of Thieis society maintained that there was no such thing as male prostitutes. After Pror's death, his partner, Jacob, set up a charity foundation in Pror’s name that still exists and helps homeless teens boys get out of a life of prostitution and back to school, or even a university education they might not otherwise have had access to.
Pror was stabbed to death, multiple times, by a Nagri operative, just before the Great War. The operative claimed that he was legally carrying out his nation's death sentence towards Pror, and that he had done no wrong. The Thieis Justice system didn’t see it that way and sentenced the operative to death.
