The Swarm operates as a hive mind-linked "chain of command," seeking to augment their gene pool through the assimilation of advanced species that are deemed "worthy." This allows the Swarm to create numerous specialized strains, each with unique adaptations. Despite their reputation for cunning and ruthless efficiency, many Swarm species exhibit limited intelligence and become mindless creatures if they lose connection to their hive-cluster or command entity.
