Insectini

The name of this race is the Insectini. They are a diverse group, with some resembling giant beetles or ants, while others are more akin to grasshoppers or dragonflies. Despite their origins as mere beasts, the Insectini have developed a rich culture and society over the centuries.

Many of them live in large communal communities, where they work together to gather resources and protect each other from predators. Some have even learned to harness their innate magical abilities, using them to defend their homes and communicate with other members of their kind.

However, not all of the Insectini are content to live in these peaceful communities. Some have turned to a life of wandering, seeking out new experiences and challenges. These adventurous individuals are often hired as mercenaries or scouts, using their keen senses and agile bodies to excel in these roles.

Despite their intelligence and culture, the Insectini are often viewed with suspicion and fear by other races. Many believe that they are nothing more than soulless creatures, created solely for the bidding of the mad wizard who first brought them into being. However, those who take the time to get to know the Insectini often come to respect and admire their strength and resilience.

Medium Insectini


Monstrous Humanoid (3 RP): Monstrous humanoids have the darkvision 60 feet racial trait. Monstrous humanoids breathe, eat, and sleep.

Standard Ability Score Modifier (0 RP): +2 Str, +2 Wis, -2 Cha

Standard Languages (0 RP): Common, Limited empathic communication with vermin of corresponding type.
If INT is high may choose from the following Sylvan, Undercommon, Elven, Goblin, Gnome, Orc, Dwarven.

Natural Armor (1 RP): Members of this race gain a +1 natural armor bonus to their Armor Class.

Climb (2 RP): Members of this race have a climb speed of 20 feet, and gain the +8 racial bonus on Climb checks that a climb speed normally grants.

Vestigial Arms (8 RP): Members of this race have two additional vestigial arms. They may hold small objects in them but are too weak and uncoordinated for most tasks. These arms are unable to make attacks or perform actions that require fine manipulation.

Small Insectini


Monstrous Humanoid (3 RP): Monstrous humanoids have the darkvision 60 feet racial trait. Monstrous humanoids breathe, eat, and sleep.

Standard Ability Score Modifier (0 RP): +2 Dex, +2 Wis, -2 Cha

Small (0 RP): Small races gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty on combat maneuver checks and to their CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks. Small races have a space of 5 feet by 5 feet and a reach of 5 feet. Standard Languages (0 RP): Common, Limited empathic communication with vermin of corresponding type.

Alternate Racial

  Gliding Wings (3 RP): Members of this race take no damage from falling (as if subject to a constant non-magical feather fall spell). While in midair, members of this race can move up to 5 feet in any horizontal direction for every 1 foot they fall, at a speed of 60 feet per round. A member of a race with gliding wings cannot gain height with these wings alone; it merely coasts in other directions as it falls. If subjected to a strong wind or any other effect that causes a creature with gliding wings to rise, it can take advantage of the updraft to increase the distance it can glide.
This also lowers their other racial movement modes by 10
This Trait replaces Natural Armor.
