A solid metal bowl standing on a flat base with a lid connected by a latch. In the top of the lid there is a hole big enough for the handle of the pestle but not the tip, meaning in order to fit in in the hole one needs to open up the mortar and slide the handle through. Both appear to be made of adamantine, but the pestle seems to have small flecks of diamond around the business end as well.
The bowl is large enough to contain about 2 cups of material with room for the pestle to operate (roughly 30 cubic inches or 240 ml).

Identified

This item is used for crushing materials into dust without having pieces escape the bowl. It can be used for standard herbalism components to great effect, but can also process harder materials. The user can speak a command word to cause the pestle to grind without needing hands to operate it, reducing its contents to dust over the course of a few minutes (depending on material):

• Plants, mundane bones, etc.: 1 minute.
• Metals, non-gem stone: 5 minutes
• Gemstones: 10 minutes
• Other materials: GM discretion

Only items small enough to fit into the mortar with its lid closed can be processed in this way. Larger objects are unaffected by this item.
