Auction Rules
The auction at the Temple of Waukeen functions thusly:
- Auctions occur daily at 3 pm. Some days there are no items up for auction.
- The curious can spend 10% of the starting price for surety (samples/divination magic). This is split between the temple and the seller (negotiable on a case by case basis, but the temple rarely accepts less than 3%).
- Items can be bought outright before the auction. Triple the starting price is the traditional starting point of negotiations and sellers have no obligation to accept an offer.
- To auction an item, it must be presented to the high priest for valuation before midday. The seller can offer the item at the priest's suggested starting bid, or choose their own starting price.
- If the seller uses the priest's price, the temple charges 10g to auction an item and collects 10% of the price when it sells. If for some reason it doesn't sell at this price, the temple returns the 10g fee.
- If the seller picks their own starting price, the temple charges 10g or 10% of the starting price (whichever is larger). If the item sells, they collect a further 5% of the selling price. If it fails to sell, they keep the earlier fee of 10g or 10%.
