Common

Common is, sensibly enough, the most common language spoken in the world. It is nearly ubiquitous among the civilized races and most works intended for wide circulation are written in it.
Groups sufficiently isolated from the rest of the world may not speak Common, but most others who deal with outsiders often would be fluent in it.
