deities are immune to mortal weapons

Deities in this setting ignore all mortal weapons wielded against them, and even shrug off most powerful mortal magic. The only known way for a mortal to have a strong deleterious effect on a deity is through contract magic or the intercession of another being of similar power (such as another deity or a powerful extraplanar creature; see Levels of power).
Deities can directly damage one another (see The Blinding of Ioun) but cannot usually otherwise interfere with one another (a deity's various powers are not directly effective against other deities). As a result of this, most disagreements between gods are handled by the deity's followers or "hired hands" of creatures outside the mortal planes.
