A portable hole is an rare magic item used to store or transport things.

While a portable hole generally ignores gravity (items in it treat the bottom of the hole as "down" and don't come out if the hole is placed on a vertical surface) its edges can be rolled up to force its contents upward and out of the hole. It can be gradually emptied without having to actually handle or lift its contents in this way (as they clear the edge of the hole, they will become subject to local gravity, falling out/away depending on the hole's orientation).
