Silvery Barbs

Identifying rolls as targets for the barb

The Concern

How is a player with Silvery Barbs supposed to know what rolls it would be advantageous to use the spell on?
Details
Silvery Barbs RAW doesn't really include any stipulations on identifying the best rolls to use this on. However, general table practice has been to call out critical hits in combat for clarity, even if it's a bit meta.
Ruling
It has been agreed that combat critical hits in range will be called out as critical, not only for the purposes of Silvery Barbs but in the interest of proper threat analysis by the party at large.

Silvery Barbs vs Concentration

The Concern

Can Silvery Barbs force a reroll on a successful Concentration check?
Details
Concentration RAW: "Whenever you take damage while you are concentrating on a spell, you must make a Constitution saving throw to maintain your concentration. The DC equals 10 or half the damage you take, whichever number is higher. If you take damage from multiple sources, such as an arrow and a dragon's breath, you make a separate saving throw for each source of damage."
Silvery Barbs RAW: "[triggering action for the spell] ...which you take when a creature you can see within 60 feet of yourself succeeds on an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw"
Ruling
Silvery Barbs indicates it can affect saving throws per RAW, so forcing a reroll on a concentration check (a Constituation saving throw) seems valid.

Silvery Barbs targeting allies

The Concern

Can you use Silvery Barbs on an ally?
Details
Silvery Barbs RAW: "[triggering action for the spell] ...which you take when a creature you can see within 60 feet of yourself succeeds on an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw"
Ruling
This seems pretty straightforward - should the caster be so inclined, they can use thier reaction to Silvery Barbs an ally.
