If you speak the command word (“Hearthrob”) while grasping the handle, the tankard fills with three pints of rich dwarven ale. Despite the rapid and noisy filling of the tankard, the head of the ale never crests the rim, instead forming around the dwarf's face in place of his missing beard, causing the face to grin. When the tankard is emptied, the foam disappears and the stern look returns.
