Dead Man's Garden
Bone and Brass,
Corpses, Cash,
All laid out for display.
In Dead Man's Garden
of final rest,
nothing is sacred or safe.
Purpose / Function
Bodies are disposed of by either putting them on a small boat and burning them on open water (a la vikings), or simply dropping them into the sea to be disposed of. This is a common area for bodies to be laid to rest, as it is near Silver Port, which is a community built on platforms suspended above the sea floor by stilts, and the community's church happens to be near the dock which extends out towards the waters above the graveyard.
Architecture
The graveyard is atop a plateau-like structure only about a dozen feet below sea level. When the world's two moons are in a certain alignment, the area will experience a very low tide, exposing the plateau and everything on top of it. During the low tide, the plateau's edges extend downwards a few feet, making it difficult but not impossible to get to the top.
Atop the plateau are hundreds of skeletons. Some are fairly new, some are so old they have been partially turned to dust. Some have old weapons or scraps of clothing, but most have been picked clean of their valuables.
History
This particular area of sea has a much higher sea floor than the area surrounding it. As a result, low tide can result in it being temporarily uncovered. When this happens, the bodies of those laid to rest here are revealed. The number of bodies is countless, and range from fresh corpses to bones that are hundreds of years old. Most valuables with which the dead were sent off have been taken by those less respectful of the dead.
