Dawnlight, Voice of the Astral

The Dawnlight is considered a holy relic that was lost after the fall of the Oracle of Bones. It was a heavy broadsword with a jagged blade and inset with obsidian. The blade allowed its wielders to speak with the dead and could fell incorporeal beings as if they had a tangible form. The source of its power was the earth around it, leading some to speculate that the Dawnlight was a gift from Sabella's darker side. Others believe it to be a weapon of Bibiana's creation to help the pilgrims during the War of Life and Strife.

History

The original owner of the Dawnlight was a powerful, dwarven warrior named Embrek Lasrielle. Embrek was a paladin devoted to the goddess of family and strength, Bibiana. When it was time for the Oracle of Bones to answer for her crimes, Embrek showed no hesitation in joining her fellow warriors during the war of Life and Strife. As a gift for her courage and tenacity, Embrek was gifted the Dawnlight by her favored goddess in a dream.
With her divine weapon, Embrek survived the war and was among the group of soldiers that slew Jolene. After the war concluded, Embrek went on to hunt down the Remnants of Bone. Embrek was eventually killed in battle and her blade was taken as a trophy for the undead remnants. To this day, no one has found Embrek's remains nor the Dawnlight.

Significance

The Dawnlight is an important symbol to the dwarves of Caelsimil. Several paintings exist of not only the weapon, but Embrek herself, who was canonized as a saint of Bibiana shortly after the war. Modern day worshipers of the goddess have conducted several missions in order to find her holy relic, but its whereabouts remain a mystery.
