Empire: Thimblebottom Empire
The Empire was founded 2165 years ago. When the Gnomes home planet of Phothelea was attacked by Vore god of Tyranny and their cult. Before this war happened the peoples of Phothelea were split into a multitude of city states that were constantly fighting amongst themselves. This Gnome V god (great war ) was the catalyst needed to bind these groups into one. This monumental task was accomplished by the Empire's indomitable founder Cornelius Thimblebottom. After uniting the Photheleans Thimblebottom lead the war effort bringing the collective might of the Gomes down on the cult and Vore. The war lasted many years but after many defeats and hard won victories Thimblebottom finally faced Vore one on one. This battle was possible due to the gnome collectives layering of arcane woes on the god until it became vulnerable. Thimblebottom struck down the god with his Exalted sword severing the gods head. This act ended the war and marks the beginning of the Empire. The gnomish folk understood that they were much stronger together than separate and crowned Thimblebottom first emperor and ruler of all gnomes and Phothelea. the new emperor set about pressing his will on the planet rebuilding war-torn cities tearing down walls and building the imperial capital Thimblestead on the bones of the god he had defeated. This included building a huge monument to the war's victims and victors in the for of a huge Obelisk
Not long after this war the empire discovered Emperium closely followed but the building of its first spell jamming ship, this ship was built using the planets own malachite. After witnessing the effect this had on the planet it was decided to look else were for the mineral. This ship was used to take the Empire's first step into space the founding of Paragon Station home of the empire's shipyards, a communication obelisk, and home to the Imperial Admiralty, located on Phothelea's moon. The harvesting of the moons resources and a malachite accident led to its collapse about 200 YAFE (years after formation of empire). however the Station was too valuable to lose and the military instead expanded and used the station to link together the moon's debris.
Paragon Station became the staging grounds for the empires first expansion taking over all of the Phothelea system. This was accomplished in a matter of 20 YAFE. Emperor Thimblebottom focused his people on rebuilding, expanding, and developing new arcana and tech. It was after this first expansion that malachite was discovered on a neighboring planet and it was stripped of the mineral which quickly created a wild and desolate planet now off limits. After this tragedy the emperor decreed that all future extraction would need to be done in a way that avoided such chaos. However this influx in the mineral meant that more spelljammers could be created. Thus the Empire's first Imperial Navy formed. The emperor sent this navy out of their crystal sphere for the first time. into the phlogiston to explore and develop trade relations. this marks the first time the empire comes in contact with many spheres they would later control as well as the Consortium.
