Order of the Iron-peak Guard

The Iron Guard is a challenging order to be a part of. They have a long history of sheltering villainous individuals that later on become quite valiant souls and die quite heroic deaths, protecting virtues of law and justice. It certainly is quite a burden of responsibility and pride to uphold such a reputation. Taith about the order

Structure

Grandmasters of the order

The order is managed by a council of grandmasters, who oversee specific elements of the internal structure of their society. The members of this assembly are:
  • GM of the Armoury - they are responsible for the Iron Guard's forges, the creation of weapons and their later storage and safekeeping within the armoury.
  • GM of the Keep - they take care of the order headquarters, the keep upon Iron-peak, it is in their duty to manage it on a regular basis.
  • GM of the Courts - they oversee the arbitration court that the order runs (they are its also highest judge), as well as head any mediations the order undertakes.
  • GM of the Guard - they command the mercenary guardsmen, as well as are responsible for the defence of their headquarters.
  • GM of the Archives - they are responsible for the order's archives where all documentation from their missions or court cases are catalogued and kept.

Guardsmen

The term "guard" means basically "member of the order". These guardsmen can be divided into two separate paths one can take within the society:
  • Guard protector - they are what most would normally call "a knight". They are what accumulates into the order's "mercenary army" that nations in need can call upon to deal with renegades and lawlessness. Besides they tend for the keep and their fellow members through more "civil-like" work.
I always found it funny how a guard protector can at one moment be fighting as a most valiant knight of the order and at another one be a cook. a guard functionary about his fellow brothers
  •
  • Guard functionary/clerk - they are the archivists, the officials managing the court the order runs, the mediations and such. They are also the order's diplomats and emissaries to other nations.
I don't know what some people find so thrilling in going through dozens of pages of documentation. But I respect it nonetheless. a guard protector on the work of guard clerks

Public Agenda

The Iron Guard was originally created for the sake of enforcing the law and executing justice in its neighbouring regions. Since then, the order has grown to become somewhat of a small country, with its main headquarters being a sort of a free city under their governance. This, however, has not rooted out the founding values of the order, as it still does work towards ensuring that the law is respected and justice delivered where it is needed - just on a different scale.
The neighbouring lands it was once guarding over have become the property of different nations that would rather tend for their citizens on their own. The order thus decided to become a form of a mercenary force, as well as an independent arbitration court and mediator, that all nations could turn to if in need of service.

I'd say their arbitrary court is the best you can turn to in the civilised world. Sure, the Consortium has one and both members of the Pact too, but let us be honest, they are not to be trusted in their "objectivity" when ruling on international matters. It's just the big politics that are too deeply intertwined in it all for these courts to be effective. The Iron Guard however, has no interest in politics - only that justice is done.
