Palace of Dust

The grandeur of the once great palace can still be seen if looked past the destruction that was wrought upon it during the literal apocalypse for the people of this city. Tsarist archeologist referring to the palace

Purpose / Function

Royal residence

The main purpose for the creation of the palace was to house the residence of the Pandea Constantin dynasty. It would be here that the monarch and his closest relatives would live on a daily basis. Because of this, great efforts were put into designing and erecting the most comfortable living quarters as well as leisure space.

Seat of government

The palace was the seat of power of the king and his government since the early days of Pandea dominance over its region. There the monarch would receive state visits, delegations and such. It is due to this, that the palace had to be expanded on greatly and made far more grand so that whoever came here would know the might of the Pandea royal.

Alterations

As the city-state expanded, so did the importance of the monarch and his palace. As the royalty consolidated its power, it became apparent that the palace would become the heart of the Pandea government. This meant that the building would have to undergo some changes to change it from just a kingly residence to a proper place of the state's power. Because of this, a large expansion of the palace began, with three new wings being built and the original residence part being partially retrofitted.

West wing

Here the government of the city-state has its meeting hall, where it can discuss the most crucial matters. It is also here that the highest ranking officials have their headquarters.

East wing

The throne room takes up a large portion of the east wing, being its most crucial component. It is in this place that the monarch can receive other royals or delegates, at the same time showing them the impressiveness and splendour of his nation.

South wing

The entrance to the palace is located here, alongside ceremonial guestrooms and dining halls for banquets.

Renovation of the residence; the north wing

The original building had to be changed in some places to fit in better with its new additional parts, both structurally and ornamentally. The northern facade had been rebuilt entirely to give more privacy to the royal family, and the eastern and western ones were only retouched a bit to blend in with the new wings.

History

Built during the growth of importance of Pandeamonium in the region, the residence stood undisturbed for quite some time, until its expansion and partial renovation after the consolidation of the city-state as a regional power. Afterwards, it had housed all the kings of Pandea, up until Rugyr II, after whose death it was destroyed in the assault by the Grand Coalition. It was also then that both the city and the state were left in ruins and the surviving peoples of the Pandea had to sprawl across the continents in search of a new home.
