    Founding of Shla ai-Doai
    Founding

    Settlers from the Rahyamin Empire establish a settlement in Bratayya with the hope that it could serve as a resting point for both merchants and soldiers. The first inhabitants name their town Shla ai-Doai.   As its surroundings are unsuitable for agriculture, the settlement starts importing in food from the rest of the empire.

    The Grain Crisis

    Shla ai-Doai becomes vital for the Rahya supply routes that fuel the Rahyamin war against the Pijari. The defenders realize this and launch a surprise attack through previously unexplored paths through the mountains.   With the supply lines interrupted and the Rahya army busy further north, the settlers' supplies of grain dwindle. They try to fight back and to get rid of the raiders but lack the arms and armour to succeed. Without any immediate support, many of the locals begin to starve.   Relief comes eventually, but the Rahya forces are too late to save many of the settlers who had perished either of starvation or in the fights that broke out to claim the last remaining scraps of grain.

    Creation of the March of Ahelaldi
    Founding

    Seeing the value of the settlement and the threat of raids on the supply lines, Bahal Ehir Vadba creates the March of Ahelaldi and orders the construction of a new castle in Shla ai-Doai.   He grants the title to Galito of Vaprah, a commoner who proved his worth by maintaining order in the settlement during the Grain Crisis as the captain of the guard and de facto leader of the settlers.   The new Vaja of Ahelaldi pledges to guard the supply routes and to forever protect the heartland of the Rahyamin Empire from northern raids and invasions.

    Several ambitious members of the royal family who received support from the Vatebrai gather their allies and prepare to take what they see as their rightful throne by force. Five of the claimants declare themselves the true monarch, one of them renounces his claim, and the remaining two are the son and daughter of the previous Bahale who are too young to press their claims.

    Ahelaldi Declares Neutrality

    As the civil war escalates into the largest conflict the Rahyamin Empire has ever witnessed, Vaja Nikla Itramin declares that his forces will remain in Shla ai-Doai and continue their task of guarding the heartland.   He promises to pledge his loyalty to the victor once the ashes have settled and order has been restored.

    Captain Asul's Ambitions

    As the War of the Rahyamins raged and the realms of Pekkola restored their independence, a captain in the Rahya army, Madir Ehdaba Asul, began travelling around Tathland.   He gathered as many of the Rahya diaspora as he could in hopes that a united force could assure their safety in the chaotic times they were living in.

    With the fall of the Rahyamin Empire seeming imminent, Madir Ehdaba Asul and his followers occupied the town of Mehal and proclaimed the creation of the Principality of Sabba.

    In the chaos of the civil war, the last known claimants to the throne of the Rahyamin Empire perish in battle. Without a legitimate heir, the generals fight on and claim territories of the fallen empire in their name all while separatists take back their lost independence and push the remaining Rahya garrisons out of their homes.

    The Imperial Remnant

    After the downfall of the Rahyamin Empire, those loyal Imperial ideals flee to the barren wastes of the Sunless Paths and Bratayya. They become known as the Remnant.   While they are united by their desire to see the empire reborn, their ideological differences keep them divided. Some groups wish to see a return to the old and strict ways of the early empire under Tamil the Uniter while others wish to see it reformed into a democracy and there are plenty who desire to reclaim the lost throne and shape the world in their image.

    Last Bastion of the Legitimists

    Vaja Bilafir of Ahelaldi holds a speech in which he declares Shla ai-Doai the bastion of legitimists and swears to uphold Imperial law and to find a legitimate heir to the throne.   Other legitimists flock to Ahelaldi to support the Vaja and to escape the violence directed at those who still support the House of Rahyamin.

    The Second Grain Crisis

    Without their regular shipments of food from the south, Ahelaldi is forced to search for new sources of food. The additional influx of people only makes the situation far worse. Rationing is no longer enough, and people begin to starve.   Groups of raiders form and they go on expeditions south to find food and steal it from others. Vaja Bilafir Olgab expresses his concern over the diplomatic impacts of the raids but understands their necessity.

    Raid on Valrtún

    In 283 AU, two years after the greatest threat to the Bjagríki Union’s existence, the Rahyamin Empire, had perished, a great tragedy befell the Bjager.

    Hours past the sun had set, a large band of unknown assailants launched a deadly raid on Valrtún, a town in the heart of the union.

    Before the incident, the three states were planning on ending the confederation for good, but the union elder had rallied support for the union's continuation following the event.

    He claimed the marauders had come from the south and that the world was in more chaos than ever before. All attempts at independence were soon stopped and right to veto decisions was granted to the country’s leader.

    Trade with the Pijari

    In order to solve the food problem, Hadir ai-Pal, one fo the councillors of Ahelaldi, arranges a trade deal with the Pijari of Vaijia and Ougadiai.   The Remnant offer iron from the mines they have inside the inner walls of the great crevices that flank their land. Most of the raiders who used to loot for food volunteer to become caravan guards.

    War of the Iron Road

    Anti-legitimist factions in the Sunless Paths form a coalition to put an end to the March of Ahelaldi. They start the War of the Iron Road with a raid on a Pijari caravan that was supposed to bring food from Hiláuokta to Shla ai-Doai.   The raids on the caravans bring back fears of starvation among the legitimists and financially hurt their trading partners. They launch a swift counterattack to secure the so-called Iron Road between them and their partners.   Fighting over the trade route continued for nearly two years until Ahelaldiri forces defeat the bulk of the anti-legitimist troops in a decisive battle. The fleeing men are run down by Pijari lancers who successfully capture a few of their leaders. The remaining aggressors go into hiding, occasionally coming out to terrorize their enemies until the last of their hideouts are uncovered, and their leaders captured or killed.

    The Council of the Exalted was publically called out was when a lord from Rieweck denounced some of their members in 289 AU. All his scandalous affairs and wrongdoings had been revealed, but he persevered and rallied many against the Exalted. Eventually, the members of the secret society had no choice but to reduce their activity in his land's.

    Ahti Aotõiv, the High King of Athelland, passed away, leaving his realm to his four sons. His successors divided the realm between themselves, dividing the united region once again.
