Shipboard Terminology

Basic Directions

Bow: forward; the front of the ship; location of the forecastle; masthead found here too
Stern: aft/rear; the rear of the ship; location of the aftcastle where the ship's wheel is usually located
Larboard/Port: looking forward toward the bow, this means "left"
Starboard: looking forward toward the bow, this means "right"
