Scriptorium

Scriptorium

Making books is a fine art, done by experts. Several individuals copy texts and often illustrate them as well. Binding is done by an expert. Materials are rare and expensive. Scriptoriums are generally monkish institutions; but rich men may keep scribes busy, too. The product may be sold, in which case income is calculated. More likely, however, is that the books are kept and added to the family library, which is treasure. Alternately, they may be given away as gifts, which get Glory equal to their cost.
