SCROLLS
A spell scroll bears the words of a single spell, written in a Latin or Fair script. If the player has the skill to read, they most also have the skill to cast it. Otherwise, the scroll is unintelligible. Casting the spell by reading the scroll requires player to concentrate. Once the spell is cast, the words on the scroll fade, and it crumbles to dust. If the casting is interrupted, the scroll is not lost.
If the spell is on your class’s spell list but of a higher level than you can normally cast, you must make an ability check using your spellcasting ability to determine whether you cast it successfully. The DC equals 10 + the spell’s level. On a failed check, the spell disappears from the scroll with no other effect.
Once the spell is cast, the words on the scroll fade, and the scroll itself crumbles to dust or burst into flames.
The level of the spell on the scroll determines the spell’s cost and difficulty to cast. Example a level 3 spell has a -3 modifier. Whatever the players skill level is that is how many spells can be learned. Example the player has a Fairy Lore of 10, they can cast up to 10, 1st level spells per day or 1 10th level spell. This is modified by the level of the spell.
